Veneers

Dental Veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. Helps.

Veneers are just one of a number of cosmetic solutions we offer to improve the appearance of teeth. A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain, or composite material, used to cover the front of a tooth.

Veneers are generally used to improve the colour, position and shape of teeth. Veneers disguise irregularities seen on the surface of the tooth, such as wear and tear, chips or discolouration, and in some cases, can also be useful for correcting crooked, uneven or protruding teeth, as well as covering gaps. We’ll always advise you on the best type of treatment for you and your teeth.

If we cannot assist, we can provide referrals or advice about the type of practitioner you require. We are committed to being the region’s premier healthcare network by providing patient-centred care that inspires clinical and service excellence, making us the first and best choice for our patients, employees, physicians, employers, volunteers and communities.

Types of veneers

There are two main types of veneers – porcelain and composite.

Porcelain

Porcelain is renowned for its strength, and because of its quality can be used to make exceptionally thin high-quality veneers. Porcelain veneers are custom-made to fit your tooth colour and shape. At Dental Healthcare Practice we prefer this form of veneer because of its durability and resistance to staining. Porcelain veneers are perfect for achieving a natural look and last longer than other types of veneers.

Composite

Composite veneers are sometimes used either as a temporary fix, while your porcelain veneers are being made, but generally composite is used to fix small cosmetic issues, such as chipped or cracked teeth. Composite can also be used to fill small gaps between teeth. Composite veneers are cheaper than porcelain, but the end result isn’t generally so good. Composite veneers don’t look as good as porcelain veneers and they aren’t as resistant to staining.

Many people do not visit the dentist regularly. They only visit when there is a dental problem. This is called “crisis treatment,” as opposed to “preventive treatment.” Although this is usually done to save money, patients may end up with expensive treatment procedures that could have been prevented by minor treatments earlier.

Many conditions are symptomless until they reach their advanced stage. The regular dental appointment allows the general dentist to monitor the patient’s oral health and detect potential issues that can become complicated.
Brushing can remove most of the bacteria in the mouth. However, toothbrush bristles cannot reach every part of the mouth. Flossing gets rid of bacteria in those areas, especially in the tiny spaces between the teeth. Without flossing, plaque and food remnants will build up, eventually hardening into tartar.
Preventing cavities is possible by reducing the occurrence of plaque in the mouth through good oral hygiene. This starts with brushing the teeth at least twice daily and flossing every day. Patients also need to cut down sugar intake, especially in foods like candies, chips, fruits and crackers. Sweet and sticky foods are meals for the bacteria causing damage in the mouth. Regular dental visits for checkups and cleanings are also important.
Many issues affecting the teeth and surrounding tissues are not visible during a physical examination. The general dentist may perform X-rays to see bone infections, gum disease, decay between the teeth or under dental restorations, abscesses or cysts, certain tumors and developmental issues. Detecting and treating dental problems early can save money, time and unnecessary discomfort.
Everyone should visit the dentist for a checkup at least every six months. However, patients who are at a higher risk of gum disease or oral cancer may need more frequent appointments. The dentist will recommend how often a patient needs general dentistry care.
